On foot
The city of Chartres has a rich heritage that can largely be discovered on foot. Walk along the banks of the Eure river, take the many pedestrianised streets in the city center... A whole range of possibilities for you to discover every corner of the city in all its detail.
By bike
Whether simply to get about, to visit the local attractions, or to explore the city and its surroundings, take an economical and environmentally friendly means of transport. The Maison du Vélo near Chartres train station rents bikes for a fun and healthy way to spend your break.
Taxis
If you've come without a vehicle, there's no problem! Whether to get back to your hotel, enjoy go out for the evening or to the restaurant to taste our local specialities and regional products... make your trips in your own time in one of our comfortable taxis.
Urban transport network
For short distances, take advantage of our "Relais des Portes" service (Filibus network): two free shuttles around the center of Chartres all year round from Monday to Saturday (except bank holidays) from 6:39 am to 11:30 pm, running every 15 to 20 minutes with 11 stops.
Two night shuttle buses on Fridays and Saturdays (except bank holidays) on two circuits:
- Train station - Madeleine - camping site (10:15 pm and 11:32 pm).
- Place Morard - SNCF - Mainvilliers - Luce (10:10 pm and 11:27 pm).
For longer trips, the Filibus bus network has 15 regular lines serving the 11 towns of the urban area (Chartres Champhol, Gellainville, Coudray, Lèves, Lucé, Luisant, Mainvilliers, Morancez, Barjouville and Nogent-le-Phaye). Beyond the town, the Transbeauce bus network comprises 130 regular lines to the various municipalities of the département.
