Getting to Château de Maintenon by car
This beautiful castle in the heart of the Vallée de l’Eure is easy to get to by car, either by motorway or local roads. Check out the routes you can take to get there now so your journey is as smooth as possible. If you don’t have a car, don’t hesitate to call a taxi or a chauffeur-driven car (VTC): a practical solution to move around between the various tourist sites in the area.
From Chartres
Maintenon is around 30 minutes from Chartres (so around 20km).
From Paris
Maintenon is 1 hour from Paris and Versailles (so between 70 and 90 km).
Parking at Maintenon Castle
There are several free car parks in Maintenon city center where you can park during your visit, including the castle and stadium car parks. Other parking in the heart of the city is blue zone parking and so you can only park there for an hour and a half (European disc required). You can also park in paid parking in the district around the train station. The parking meter ticket costs 3 euros for 24 hours.
How else can you get here?
You can also get to Maintenon Castle by train. There are lots of trains from the TER Centre - Val de Loire network that run all day from Paris Montparnasse to Chartres and back. The train stops at Maintenon. In addition, the trains making this connection generally cover the opening hours of the castle, allowing you to explore the sites as you wish.
