By walking through Illiers-Combray, Marcel's Proust’s paternal family hometown, you'll follow in the footsteps of the author of In search of lost time, who drew his inspiration from the church, the Pré Catelan, and the Maison de Tante Léonie.
The town is dominated by the impressive Church of Saint-Jacques with its wide nave, vaulted ceiling in polychrome wood panelling and magnificent stained glass. It holds the most moving souvenirs of the author of "A la Recherche du Temps Perdu". The walk by the citadel and the banks of the Loir takes you to the Pré Catelan where Proust would come to write.
